Thanksgiving Brings Many Helping Hands Together
Kaʻū High & Pāhala Elementary sent home many free meals for the Thanksgiving Weekend in a drive-thru for the
community, the food also sponsored by OKK, Hawai'i County Parks & Recreation and Kaʻū High Athletics.

The threat of a rapidly spreading variant comes as Hawai'i is loosening Covid restrictions and travel requirements.
With the sudden emergence of Omicron, European countries and the U.S. quickly threw up travel bans from South African countries where the Omicron was first discovered and is requiring testing and quarantining for citizens returning from that region.
With Europe experiencing another wave of COVID, with some of the highest daily Delta rates during the pandemic, new lockdown orders and other restrictions are being implemented.
State of Hawai'i's Department of Health officials say that vaccines are effective against the Delta and may be effective against Omicron, should it reach here.
Flu shots, Covid vaccines and boosters will be offered free at Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Services on the corner of Maile and Pikake Streets in Pāhala on Wednesday, Dec. 8. The focus is to vaccinate children, five and older, but everyone is welcome. KTA pharmacy is also a sponsor of the event.
Lt. Gov. Josh Green, Md. noted on Friday that Omicron had not been detected in Hawai'i and that that the statewide positivity rate for COVID has fallen to 1.3 percent, much lower than the 6 percent on the mainland.
KAʻŪ TROJANS WON THEIR FIRST GAME OF THE FOOTBALL SEASON, on home turf at Kaʻū High in Pāhala on Saturday against Pahoa Daggers. Final score was 26-13. Spectators were limited to two family members for each player, cheerleader and athletic staff member.
