NA'ALEHU HUB IS DRAWING NEW SUPPORT TO NOURISH PEOPLE. O Kaʻū Kakou President Wayne Kawachi said OKK and the Nāʻālehu Hub continue their run to feed people three times a week from Nāʻālehu Hongwanji on Hwy 11.
    Kawachi said that new sponsors recently joined OKK to support approximately 90 meals each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Sponsors include Kendis Kao of Honu'apo Foundation, Eva Liu of Ulu Kaʻū Farm, Nāʻālehu Hongwanji, and Cindy Cui, Charter President of Silicon Valley Global Innovation Lion Club. Past supporters included Vibrant Hawai'i. OKK also works with Ulu Kaʻū Farm to provide fresh produce to people coming to Nāʻālehu Hub.

OKK MARKET WILL HOST A GIVING CHRISTMAS on Wednesday, Dec. 22. Everyone entering the open market in Nāʻālehu will be able to receive a certificate, in a drawing, with some certificates good for gifts from sponsors and vendors, and others good for $3 and more to be used to purchase from vendors that day.
    O Kaʻū Kakou supported Kaʻū High & Pāhala Elementary in its Thanksgiving food giveaway and is supporting other non-profits during the holidays, said its President Wayne Kawachi.

DINE AND  STROLL DOWN KMC COTTAGE LANE FOR HOLIDAY LIGHTS and images. That is the invitation from Kilauea Military Camp, which invites the public to walk among its stone and wooden cottages with fireplaces and outdoor holiday decorations and lighting. It's a contest among staff members. Pedestrians can vote on their favorite and win prizes.

A New Year's Day Brunch will be offered on Saturday, Jan 1 from 7 a.m. to noon, with Ham, Cajun Salmon, Vegetarian Quiche with Hollandaise Sauce, Herb Roasted Buttered Potatoes, Waffles, Fresh Fruit and Yogurt Parfait, and a Beverage. The Kids Meal Option offers Waffles, Bacon, Herb Roasted Buttered Potatoes and Beverage for children 6-11 years of age.

LOCAL PANIOLO WILL HOST A CHRISTMAS PARADE. Kaʻū Roping & Riding, which sponsors rodeos and other equestrian events at Nāʻālehu Rodeo Grounds, will host a Christmas Parade through the camps of Nāʻālehu on Sunday, Dec. 19 at sundown. ATV's, trucks and other ranch vehicles will participate, decorated with lights and other Christmas ornamentation.
    There will be a Santa Claus and handing out gifts along the way, with support from O Kaʻū Kakou, said organizer Tammy Ka'apana.

A HOLIDAY PARADE OF LIGHTS will be hosted on Saturday, Dec. 18. It starts at Discovery Harbour Community Center at 5:30 p.m. for photos and rolls into the neighborhood beginning at 6 p.m.
    Noisemakers, bells, boomboxes are welcome to help spread the cheer, along with candy for the spectators. The parade will be followed by cookies, punch and caroling at Discovery Harbour Community Center.
